Title: mobile phone industry roadmap Post by vivkr on Oct 13th, 2008, 2:14am Hi, Is there a common industry roadmap for mobile phone evolution? Or atleast something from one of the major players like Nokia etc. which sets forth the features to come, and the technical improvements one may expect in the future phones. All this of course is of interest in terms of the technical specs on the circuitry on board. Vivek |
Title: Re: mobile phone industry roadmap Post by didac on Oct 16th, 2008, 3:36am Hi, 3GPP publishes the SAE(System Architecture Evolution) and LTE(Long Term Evolution) that deals with future network definition and future radio access evolution. Looking at them you can more or less see the requirements of future mobile terminals but they don't indicate any hardware aspects(I suppose they are redacted by radio engineers and network engineers, not circuit designers). One point that I think it's clear it's the use of smart terminals(cognitive radio) were the terminal will need to be able of perform "opportunistic" communications choosing between networks, thus enforcing reconfigurable architectures or circuits able to withstand variable dynamic range and bandwidth. Hope it helps, |
