Title: reference spur
Post by raja.cedt on Oct 8th, 2010, 11:29pm

hi,
up to my knowledge integral of Phase Noise will give jitter in time domain, but my question should i consider reference spur also in this integration?

Thanks.

Reference spurs will cause DJ (deterministic jitter).
phase noise = RJ

Reference spur will modulate your RJ (obtained from phase noise spectrum w/o ref. spur) at it's own frequency with peak amplitude determined by ref. spur magnitude,
this modulation jitter being known at deterministic jitter, as its origin (ie the origin of ref spur) can be traced back to definite circuit elements/processes.

Total resultant jitter will include both RJ & DJ.
