Hello All,

How should we choose a particular frequency for the buck converter.For instance I find that it would be inversely proportional to the ripple current through inductor. If there are some frequencies in the circuit for example of the load(say its a digital logic or ADC running as particular frequency) then it would be better to keep the regulator frequency at a different value so as to avoid interference.

Can someone clarify how to go about this?

it is going to have all kinds of spectral content since its a nonlinear circuit switching - huge noise generator!

You really are not going to be able to get around that.

A typical key reason for switching frequency is simple the size of the inductor. It needs to be small to fit into an iPhone! The higher frequency, the smaller the size of the inductor for the same current. The trade off is switching losses. The higher the frequency, the more loss in the switching devices and inductor. Apparently, people don’t like their iPhone burning a hole in their pocket either:-)
