Title: Corner Simulations without ADE-XL Post by Berti on May 8th, 2012, 11:57pm Does anybody know whether corner/monte-carlo simulation are possible in Cadence6 without using ADE-XL? (just using ADE-L) I found ADE-XL being a very slow annoying toy/tool which crashes several time a day! I want to go back to the good old ADE! :'( Cheers Berti |
Title: Re: Corner Simulations without ADE-XL Post by ACWWong on May 10th, 2012, 8:46pm hi Berti, I share your pain. I found ADE-XL a real pain, but finally began to understand how to configure it (and that is by no means obvious !!!) and where it puts the data etc. So I would say persevere, you'll get used it ! If the crashing is a problem, it might be a version issue, so the Cadence standard response of upgrading to latest IC ver and MMsim should help... but having said that it still seems to be sloooow ! Problem is even if you run MonteCarlo from say Ocean, I believe you'll still check-out the ADE-XL license, so may as well use the GUI. Cheers Alan |
Title: Re: Corner Simulations without ADE-XL Post by Berti on May 25th, 2012, 12:02am Hi Alan, Thanks for mental support ... good to know that I am not alone ;) Our EDA-Team is in contact with Cadence, but as you mentioned: The standard-answer is waiting for the next version ... which usually just brings other problems. It is really a pity that a good circuit simulator such as spectre is integrated in such a sloppy programmed software. BR Berti |
Title: Re: Corner Simulations without ADE-XL Post by Berti on May 25th, 2012, 12:13am BTW, does any body has hints how to speed up ADE-XL? I tried it by storing the simulation data only on my local disk (not on the server), to reduce the hystory to only 1 single simulation run etc. , but so far I didn't got an improvement. Cheers |
Title: Re: Corner Simulations without ADE-XL Post by pixel on May 25th, 2012, 2:59am ic165 is more stable version than previous. If you make multiple simulations you can run for example 4 in parallel: Run->RunOptions>Parallel on, Specify=4 Options > Max Jbs 4 Save only selected voltages also helps. and of course APS simulator in the ADE-Setup>HighPerformanceSimulators> APS |
