Title: Newbie

Hi guys,

Having no experience but some 'nand2tetris' and recently reading about verilog and the like, I'm interested to get an idea of the complexity, time and cost required to build a simple, but fast and power efficient ASIC given an algorithm it must be capable to execute.

I've been programming about half my life (I'm ~30), I understand broad concepts of hardware design and I have an idea that could earn money if fast and power-efficient enough, but I don't know what the order of magnitude is of the investment required.

Can you comment on that question?

Eric
