Title: Noise options when simulating with Spectre and ADE-L Post by vivkr on Nov 27th, 2019, 7:22am Hi, I am a bit puzzled by the behavior of the "NOISE OPTIONS" section found under "Simulator Options" for Spectre when simulating via ADE-L. One has the option of disabling/enabling noise types and/or contributions from certain instances. In an example run, I used the above to only enable flicker noise from one of the instances in my design. The noise summary however still shows me other devices and other noise types, even though the netlist clearly contains statements showing the "noiseon_type" as well as the single selected device under "noiseon_inst". Anybody knows what these options are actually supposed to be doing? Thanks, Vivek |
Title: Re: Noise options when simulating with Spectre and ADE-L Post by sheldon on Dec 5th, 2019, 4:17pm I believe you are referring to the ability to control which noise sources contribute during transient noise analysis. This is provided as a tool for debugging transient noise issues. Since you enabled 1/f noise for a device, you turned off the other contributions for that device. However, all the other devices are still contributing noise. For example, you enabled M1 1/f noise, then the results will include the 1/f noise contribution for M1 and the all the other noise source for all the other devices in the design. You will need to turn the other noise sources off, if you only want to see the noise from M1 1/f noise |
