Self biased inverter as receiver
Sep 11th, 2006, 10:12am

Hi all,

Self-biased inverter are small, fast and has a lot of gain, why it is not being used as high-speed input receiver?

Thanks,

They do get used. Been there done that.

Issues:

Linearity - not suitable for super fussy analog stuff, more suitable for amplification of digital signals.

Loss of Signal - With nothing applied they do have a high static current.

Differential - It's ground referenced not suitable CMRR. (There is a differential variation, but the CMRR is not super.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Regarding the CMRR, if the incoming signals is single-ended, it does not really matter, right? Do you mean PSRR?

actually both.

there are some cross coupled structures that are (sorta) differnetial.

In reality they are complimentary signals not fully differential.
