problem with "vpwlf" source in spectre
Sep 28th, 2006, 11:40am

Dear everybody,

I tried to use "vpwlf" source in Cadence Analog Simulation Environment. But I couldn't find the detailed on-line Cadence documentation regarding the format of the "pwlFile" in "vpwlf". And also where should I put real stimulus file "pwlFile" in order to let Spectre to read it?

I know "vpwl" source is similiar with "vpwlf". In netlist with "vpwl", it displays as:

V1 (node1 0) vsource type=pwl delay=xxxps wave=[0 0 500p 3.3 1n 3.3 1.5n 0........]

Since I have very long customized waveform need to be imported into Analog Simulation Environment to do simulation, then I generated my pwlFile with the format like [0 0 500p 3.3 1n 3.3 1.5n 0........] for "vpwlf" and put it under that netlist directory. But it seems it still doesn't correct with the format for "vpwlf". The spectre always complains the waveform for pwlFile is empty.

If I put that file under where I started the "icfb", the spectre complains there is no pwlFile.

Can somebody tell me what the pwlFile format is and where should I put it?

Many thanks.

Format for pwlf should be like the following

10n 2.5
20n 3.3
30n 2.2
35n 0
.....

And this file can be placed wherever you like.
But make sure that your vpwlf component has the correct link for the pwlf file.
