This was the theme at ISSCC in 2005, and perhaps it's come to fruition (a bit) with the iPhone and iPod.  Am I the only person who doesn't see a lot of value in being tethered to the Internet and multimedia at all times?  Heh, I was against getting a cellphone at first in order to preserve my freedom from pestering, but changed my tune (especially once I discovered the off switch  ;) )
