ideal SPICE ADC model
Apr 13th, 2007, 7:19am

Hi, Guys,

I am simulating a DAC using Spectre and SPICE. I give a sine wave source, which is quantized using an ideal ADC (a verilog-A model in ahdlLib). That's fine for Spectre. However, my SPICE simulator doesn't support verilog-A. May I write a behavior SPICE model of ideal ADC?

Thanks
Yawei

May depend on how flexible your dependent sources are in your Spice simulator.  Can you write arbitrary expressions of the input voltages?  (Some commercial Spices allow this.)  Otherwise, you might have to put in some very nonlinear gains to get the quantization.
