Ocean licences
Mar 04th, 2010, 5:55pm

Hi,

Question  1. Can any one confirm me that while running ocean, it takes up the ADE and Spectre licence?

Question 2: If i use ocean only just to gather the results, which licence does it need?

Thanks in advance.

Whenever you use OCEAN, it uses an ADE license. The spectre license is used during simulation - bear in mind that by default spectre runs in "interactive" mode which means that the simulator keeps running, so that doing parametric analysis, or even just calling desVar() to change a parameter and then run() again, it is faster because it doesn't need to re-invoke spectre, re-obtain the license, and re-read the netlist.

You can stop that by doing:

envSetVal("spectre.envOpts" "controlMode" 'string "batch")

but bear in mind this will slow down such sweeps as I describe above.

If you are using OCEAN for post-processing only, it will still use an ADE license (but not a spectre license).

Regards,

Andrew.
