hello,
basically you can equalize in Tx side or RX side. When you have Equalizer on TX side to implement adaption we have to see the eye Quality if it is not good then we have get this information from RX to TX through some some channel, this is what i feel back channel. That's why Equalizer at RX doesn't need back channel.
