RC circuit in multisim or spice
May 07th, 2004, 9:27am

I've created a very simple circuit of a 12V DC source, a resistor and capacitor in Multisim and when I start the analysis the voltage remains constant the whole time.  Am i doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Ian

I'm not familar with multisim, but why would you expect it to do anything other than remain at a constant voltage? Most circuit simulators find the DC solution first (in which capacitances are removed, and inductances shorted), and use this as the starting condition for a transient simulation. Consequently nothing is going to change in the transient.
