How to Choose the Varactor
Sep 14th, 2004, 11:52pm

All,

I am doing an LC-VCO with swicthed-cap based tuning methodology to make the frequency range of 1GHz to 5GHz. The inductor is 1nH, so the Cmax is roughly 25pF, the Cmin is 1pF. The tune range should be at least 400MHz across 1GHz to 5GHz. Range of Vcontrol is 1V and the varactor I am using is A-MOS cap. Anyone can give me a good idea how to setup the switched-cap array, and how to choose varactor size so that the frequency range can cover from 960MHz to 5.4GHz?

Thanks all.
