Hi Jim,

what type of ramp generator you are looking for......I've used a ramp generator circuit earlier to control the slew rate of source follower. If you want I can help you out.

Jim,

The simlest way to design a ramp generator is to charge/discharge a fixed cap with contant dc current controlled with the help of switches. The main challenge is such designs to generate a precision current and matching. I would suggest you to look for following two papers.

A robust, load-insensitive pad driver
Dowlatabadi, A.B.;
IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits,
Volume 35,  Issue 4,  April 2000 Page(s):660 - 665

On-chip ramp generators for mixed-signal BIST and ADC self-test
Provost, B.; Sanchez-Sinencio, E.;
IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits,
Volume 38,  Issue 2,  Feb. 2003 Page(s):263 - 273

Hope they would help.
Best of luck.....

Regards,
Qadeer

Hi Qadeer,

Thanks for your reply! It's a pity that I haven't a IEEE account, so I couldn't download paper from it . Could
you please forward the two papers to me?

email address: fujj_2003@163.com

Thank you very much and best regards!
