PSS Analysis
Oct 20th, 2005, 3:18pm

Hi all,
I am a new member of this forum. I am working on low phase noise, high speed divide by two frequency dividers. I am using Cadence spectre for the PSS and Pnoise analysis.
I wanted to know what exactly PSS analysis do and what parameters it pass on to Pnoise setup as when ever i run PSS it finds a convergence point after some iteration and then starts Pnoise analysis.
Is there any website where i can learn how cadence spectre does PSS analysis.

Rahul

Well, did you try reading the documentation? The SpectreRF User Guide and SpectreRF Theory manuals in cdsdoc are a good starting point.

Also, the papers on this site, in the Analysis section, are also helpful. One good starting point is:

Andrew.

Thanks for the reply

Yes i did tried various documents that i could find using google about PSS analysis, though i did not read spectra guide. All of them refered to just 1 theory that in PSS analysis the circuit is activated by a periodic signal and PSS analysis calculates some parameters when the the output is periodic itself. These parameters are used by Pniose setup to calculate phase noise spectra. Thats all i could find.
Will read user guide.

Thanks
Rahul
