pss & Pnoise analysis to measure jitter in PLL
May 05th, 2006, 2:44pm

Hi all,
can anybody tell me how to calculate jitter in by pnoise anlysis.
i m using cadence Spectre RF as simulator. i have gone through cadence document
and did pss followed by pnoise as method explained there.
Afterthat that by using Direct plot option i ploted pnoise result i.e.  sec/sqrt(Hz) vs frequecy(Hz). now can any body tell me 1)how the absolute jitter can be measured from that graph   2) How should the frequecy range over which pnoise analysis be decided. 3) does any other method to measure jitter?

thanks in advance

Hi Nagendra,
For estimating the frequency range over witch you or Spectre calculates the jitter, It says that you must consider the linear section of the Phase Noise curve. Typical limits for this section are 10KHz-100KHz and 100MHz.
