Phase Noise and Mixer NF
Nov 22nd, 2006, 9:08pm

Does anyone know whether phase noise affects the mixer noise figure or not and how? Any paper out there that talks about this? Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks

Not sure if it directly affects your Mixer NF, but if you have a high phase noise you must improve your system NF to compensate. Phase Noise along with Image folding and intermodulation all basically mix interferring signals into your desired band and it appears as noise. This affects your sensitivity.
