M O S vs. MOSS pronunciation
Dec 12th, 2006, 8:06am

I've noticed that some people tend to say M O S (saying each letter) and others say Moss (like the plant).

What is the most widely-accepted way to say it?

I've been saying 'moss' all this time.

The same people who say M O S will pronounce MOSFET as moss-fet.

Hi Marc,

I am not even sure if there is a defined rule for how to pronounce  acronyms. I remember there was an article in IEEE Spectrum
the last month or the one before.

But I think "en-moss" is much easier to pronounce than N M O S. Imagine trying to say L A S E R or U N I C E F Wink

Regards
Vivek

The question wasn't about a rule...just wanted to know how most people say it.

I agree it would be strange to say N M O S.  The say folks who say M O S say en-moss.  Weird.
