Ku-Band Power Detection
Oct 11th, 2007, 1:08pm

Hello,

I need to design a diode detector that works at 14 to 15 GHz over an 80 dB dynamic range.  Has anyone done this before?  What's a good device to use?

Thanks for any help,

JD

RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) Poke around in the IEEE JSSC and MTT for papers. Look for RSSI and log amps.

A simple diode wont have the dynamic range you need. Consider a log amplifier which is followed by the AC to DC conversion system.  Current hungry device because it needs to run at frequency.
