Supply voltage of modern technologies

Hi all,

From foundry data and discussion with colleagues I came to the conclusion that the supply voltage of modern technologies doesn't scale as fast as
predicted by ITRS. E.g. 1.2V for 65nm or 1.1V for 45nm - and often technologies provide dual core-oxides like 1.2/1V for 65nm or 1.1/0.9V for 45nm.

For me as analog designer this are good news! But I am wondering, what are the reasons for that.

I've never seen a technology that's unable to handle a supply voltage of 1.1 V, maybe a physician can tell us more about that. But - as the digital designers keep trying to lower the supply voltage, it's not only the technologically limit, but also the question if you want to implement more than one DCDC converter for multiple supply voltages for your circuitry ...
