Jul 29th, 2008, 10:34pm

Dear guys,

Does anyboby knows how to re-run tran with last simulation results that include all nodes operating point?

I remember some guy also asked the same question in the forum, but I can't find out the web.

Thanks

You have to create 'saved state' or 'checkpoint' file and restart your simulation
with the 'recover' option.

Virtuoso Spectre Circuit Simulator User Guide
Running a Simulation
Recovering from Transient Analysis Terminations

In the transient options
  • 'write' writes the 'saved state' file from the initial point.
  •  'writefinal' writes the 'saved state' file from the final point.
usually this files are called 'spectre.ic' and 'spectre.fc'
  •  'recover'  specifies the 'checkpoint' or 'saved state' file to read.

> spectre -help | grep -A1 recover
+recover[=filename]
Restarts the simulation from a checkpoint or savestate file,.

You have to try it. I have not done this for a long time.

Hi Bernd,

After an interruption because of tranient non-convergence, I re-run the simulation as what you instructed. However, the waveform before the interruption is overwritten. In fact I wanna combine the waveform  before and after the interruption into one so that a DFT/fourier analysis is done. Otherwise a lot of data is lost and the remaining data is not enough to run DFT.

Any comments are appreciated.
