spice netlist (import) simulated from Cadence GUI?
Aug 06th, 2008, 3:51pm

Hello -
I'm working on a project we're trying to migrate all netlists into a cadence schematic, and use the favorite old GUI such as the Analog Design Environment (ADE).

In the mean time, I have IP blocks with spice netlists only.

Question:  inside a Cadence schematic, can I instantiate a symbol that references such a netlist, and run spectre (spice format)?
If so, exactly, how do I do this?

thanks!

Hi Bernd - thanks.

I got the scasubckt symbol to work.  Seems fine.

Now, the office discussion is, why is that necessary?  Can we use a normal symbol and create a netlist view, that contains the same file.sp

cheers

No it is not necessay, but it's probably the easiest way to do it.

You can use your own symbol as well, but you need in addition.
  • A stop view for the simulator e.g. spectre,
symbol view could be copied over to 'spectre' for that.
  • The cell CDF has to be created or modified.
  • A model file where you have you IP spice description an which is
included in the simulators model path.
