Library Manager and verilogams
Jan 25th, 2009, 10:34pm

Hi - Does anyone find that the library management of verilogams views are, for lack of a better word, "sticky" ?

I have a development library and a stable library.  If I delete the version in one to copy in the other, I end up with a very outdated version.
If I delete a verilogams view, there is obviously some cadence memory that keeps it around for upcoming sims, etc.

Other times, when I look in Linux, I often see <-- links, when I really want independent files.

I have the choices of using the Library manager, a Linux window, or a Windows link to my Linux drive.  Also, I'm using gvim as a default editor.  --- if any of that is relevent.

thanks,
Wave Cool

I don't think your explanation is clear enough for me to understand precisely what you're doing. Can you clarify?

Regards,

Andrew.

Understanding the effect of
ncvlog -use5x
and
your design management solution (designsync, icmanage, cleosoft, or methodics)
on the underlying file structure is crucial to your success.

some of those can turn a simple directory and file into a "link" - and you'd best know which is doing that!

Andrew, Jonathan - Appreciate the comments.

Something is taking freshly deleted and newly re-created files and directories and replacing with:
verilog.ams -> ../../dir1/dir2/verilogams/verilog.ams

This is a link to a previous copy of a similar model.  {make from}
It was and should remain an *independent* file.

I'm not using design mgmt software at the moment, but am using OSS/irun with Interactive mode into ncsim.

What about ncvlog -use5x  ??

Something is clearly keeping it's older files in memory, refreshing the "->"

Wave,

I think you probably should contact customer support - that gives a better opportunity to ask you a set of questions and have a more rapid turnaround than I can do here. I can't see any obvious reason for the behaviour you're seeing, so I suspect there's some aspect I'm missing...

Regards,

Andrew.

All - Thanks for the support.

Our local Sales/FAE found the issue.  I was working on a "make from" design.

I copied a verilogams cell, and edited the guts of the model.  However, if you forget to change the module name --- so the AMS code module name does Not match the cellview --- Cadence take the liberty and gives you a symbolic link to code with a related name.

(never mind what happens to your mis-named code)   Arg!
