how to simulate CSO & CTB with spectre
Feb 14th, 2009, 4:46am

CSO & CTB are the most important parameters for the CATV system.
how to simulate them with spectre?
thank you in advance.
ps:
CSO:Composite Second Order
CTB:Composite Triple Beat

If you have Agilent ADS, see "/examples/Com_Sys/CATV_prj"
http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/ads2005a/examples/comsys/CATV.html

This project demonstrates how ADS can be used to measure the impact of a broadband amplifier
in a CATV system with examples of how to compute the Composite Triple Beat
and how to predict the Composite Second Order of a broadband amplifier.
It includes NTSC and PAL system video source designs to simulate video circuits and transmission.

I can't access Agilent ADS now.
Maybe you can do same tasks in Cadence Spectre.
When I have time, I will check whether this ADS examples can be realized in Cadence Spectre.

Greetings,

Spectre RF QPSS analysis has been enhanced to support CBT analysis, attached are
the results for a 132 channel example. I have not tried simulating CSO but simulating
it should not be a problem either.

                                                                        Best Regards,

                                                                           Art Schaldenbrand

I can't find any special enhancement even in "Spectre RF New Features in MMSIM 7.1.0".
What feature is enhanced ?

In Agilent ADS, I can set any multiple tones easily in Voltage or Power Sources since their frequencies and amplitudes(powers) are defined as array.
But there are only two tones setting in Cadence "analogLib/vsource" and "analogLib/port".

Just enhancement of ability to set multiple tones in vsource and port such as 131 tones ?

Pancho Hideboo,

The enhancement was back in MMSIM61 - it was to support the "freqvec" parameter on sources, to allow many tones to be specified, with (say) one missing. This is then understood by QPSS.

Unfortunately there's rather limited documentation for this.

Regards,

Andrew.

Spectre RF New Features in MMSIM 6.1
Composite Frequency Simulation

Spectre primitive sources are enhanced to support composite frequency (for example, composite triple beat, missing tone) simulation.
