How do you size short channel transistors

I know that there is the gm/id method and I do use it to size the transistors. But the gm/id is a relatively new methodology so I want to know if there are other methods that designers use to design modern short channel transistors.

depends on what you are trying to do with the transistor. I think you need to be a lot more specific about what you are trying to do in order to get a meaningful answer

my question is how do you determine the exact size of the transistor NOT what is your approach for sizing transistors (for example large L for high gian and so)
