13 Element ESMB Smart Antenna design pointers
Apr 29th, 2010, 1:51am

G'day - I understand I'll be flamed for this, but I did some searching around before and didn't exactly find what I was hoping for - so I figure I'd post my question up...

I'm currently in the process of improving my design for a control circuit/rf circuit on a 13 element MISO smart antenna.

This is to be a proof of concept and be available for further improvement later down the track - but I'm hoping if any of the professionals can have a look and be able to give some pointers on design aspects (something that can be improved), any different components they'd recommend over the ones I've utilized.

To assist I've linked the schematic and the Altium reference design:

and list of components used:

VNA-23 Monolithic Amplifier (Gain Block)
muRata Bandpass Filter (2.45GHz, 1.2dB IL)
LTC5509 (RF Detector)
MICROCHIP PIC16F526 – I/P
MICROCHIP PIC16F526 – I/SL

•      Amp – 1.67kΩ
•      RF detector
o      Ioperating = 8.333kΩ
o      Ishutdown = 2.5MΩ
•      MEMs RF – 375kΩ
•      PIC16F526
o      32kHz operation = 133.33kΩ
o      4MHz operation = 117.647kΩ

sorry if its overload of info - any pointers would be appreciated Thanks Smiley
