peak detector for AGC
Aug 06th, 2012, 12:56am

hello,
can any one suggest a peak detector for my AGC?

I have trans impedance with 150 gain followed by a AGC whose gain changes from 2 to 5 because my receiver gain has to be programmable from 300 to 750, but for me peak detector is giving is problem (basically it's a differential pair with some capacitor at the tail node)

Thanks,
Raj.

expand the question a bit more and maybe we can help.

Peak detection methods have limited linear range, Log amp structures are more applicable for wide dynamic range.

But need to know more about what you are trying to do.

Hello,
Thanks for the reply, at present i am using square based Peak detector(basically a gilbert multiplier with input shorted). My question is how to find the incremental model for this to estimate the loop dynamics, i am not finding any clear document for the AGC loops, i guess even other kind of detectors (rectifier,RMS) model is same as my detector.

I will be happy if some helped me this problem.

Thanks,
Raj
