pin order
May 28th, 2013, 4:29pm

I am using Cadence's ADE and have a cell with three views: a symbol, a schematic, and a Verilog-AMS model. When I created the Verilog-AMS model I put the pins in the most natural order. Of course, this does not match the arbitrary order that ADE used when in created the symbol and the schematic. This of course is causing problems. I can change the pin order used in the model, but that kind of seems like the tail wagging the dog.

Can someone please tell me how to change the pin order used by the symbol and the schematic to match the Verilog-AMS model.

Thanks for your answer, but I still do not have enough traction to get started.

From which window/tool? CIW and ADE windows do not have Edit menus. Library manager has Edit->Properties, but no Port Order.

Do I have to set the port order on both the symbol and schematic manually, or is setting one sufficient? Will it pick up the port order from the model, or do I have to manually type the port order?

Note that the portOrder really has very little importance these days (so much so that I've requested that we disable the check for portOrder mismatches by default). The main reason for fixing it is because Virtuoso keeps badgering you to fix it, whereas in practice if it is mismatched between the views, everything still works in practice...

Regards,

Andrew.
