Substarte parameters for ADS linecalc
Nov 19th, 2013, 2:26pm

Hi,
I want to use ADS linecalc for designing a coplanar wave guide on a PCB but the vendor website tells only this :
2-Layers, FR-4, 0.062", 1 oz. cu. plate

Where do i get substrate parameters? If I plug in values for FR4  from wikipedia , will it work. Doesn't they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer?

Hi,

if memory serves, you just need to know the loss tangent and the dielectric constant. You can google it or yeah use the values from wikipedia, but as I remember, the loss tangent of FR4 can vary widely. Also, it has been a while since I did this, but I believe ADS momentum will give you a more accurate result.

regards,
Aaron
