Cosmos Scope takes very long to export an image
May 05th, 2016, 9:09am

Hi!

Exporting an image in Synopsys Cosmos Scope tool takes too long, even though it eventually works. By too long I mean about five to ten minutes.

Anyone has an idea how to make exporting images work faster in this nice tool, please?

Thank you.

Do you have a lot of waveforms in your image, or a lot of points in a few waveforms?  I wonder if you have a lot of points, whether the export routine tries to plot every one of them, even if they're closer together than the resolution of the image you're trying to generate.

Thanks for replying and the answer is no to both of your questions.

In fact, I figured out the problem. Exporting a non-postscript format while connected to the server through X11 session results in a very long conversion time.

The solution is to either choose EPS format or work on the server directly.

Exporting EPS is very fast even during remote X11 sessions.
