"amsdirect not found"
Jan 27th, 2005, 8:59am

Hi,
I am running ic5033/ld51 and I am trying to run Cadence tutorial for AMS Designer.
When I do a run from AMS->Design Prep->Run, I get an error saying "amsdirect not found".

I have setup all the paths and I can even see amsdirect from the command line.
Not sure what I need to do for this thing to have a successful run.
Thanks for any help in advance.
Ambrish.

Hi Ambrish,

The only references I could find to this problem were a little vague as to the cause - except they did indeed get solved ultimately somehow! One case was because the product had not been installed (don't think that's your problem), one was because of a lack of AMS_environment license feature, and one was fixed by installing a later hotfix. Perhaps you could get IC5033 USR3?

Regards,

Andrew.

Thanks for that.
Well - its not as easy as it sounds to install USR3 sitting behind a university machine.
Something inside me says that I am not setting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment correctly.
The tutorial asks to "Add the location of the AMS Designer software libraries to the search path specified with the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable.
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH ${AMSHOME}/tools/lib:${CDSHOME}/tools/lib"

Has anybody run the tutorial successfully?
Thanks.
Ambrish.

I have run it successfully before.

I don't think LD_LIBRARY_PATH would necessarily have anything to do with it -  but you might as well try it.

Andrew.

Just for the records,
We fixed the error with the help of Cadence support.

Seems there was a bug in IC5033 USR2. We had to change directory permissions for the amsdirect executable and thats it.
Thanks.
Ambrish.
