highly linear vco
Dec 09th, 2005, 1:51am

I would like to design a VCO that exhibits an almost-linear relationship between input voltage and output frequency. The more linear the better. I was wondering which architecture (LC, ring oscillator, negative resistance….) would be most suited for such a task?
Is there any literature that talks specifically about and compares different structures for linearity?

Regards,
sven

It depends on the requirements for VCO range, phase noise, jitter, power consumption, too. As the linearity, it depends on the specific design.
