How to choose the window for fft?
May 31st, 2006, 8:37am

I wanted to analyse the frequency domain information by do fft to the tran signal.
When I choose the window for fft, different window will give a dfferent result and really  a big difference.
I used such window like rectangle hann hamm or so on.
How to select the right window for fft? Thanks

Material,

If you using Spectre and analyzing non-sampled circuits, op-amps, etc.,
then use the Fourier component. If you are simulating a Nyquist ADC/DAC
/SH use the rectangular function. If you are simulating an Over-sampled
ADC/DAC, then use the Hann window function. The details of the simulation
setup for Nyquist and Over-sampled cases have been discussed in previous
appends.
