Low-Noise CMOS Opamp ICs?
Dec 19th, 2006, 9:55pm

Hi all, can you recommend me some good low-noise CMOS opamp ICs? I am studying low-noise CMOS opamps now, so I need to refer to some classic structures. Cool

Best regards,
Terry

Terry,

Sadly, there isn't much you can do to lower the noise of a CMOS op amp aside from the obvious (passive loads, tons of current to get high gm in the input stage, etc.).  Generally, you just optimize for noise, there aren't any fancy low noise topologies.  Sorry.  Adding devices adds noise, so the lowest noise structures are the simplest.

Regards,
Carl

Hi Carl,

Thanks for your reply, but can you recommend me some good commercial ICs regarding low-noise and low-power Opamps, your suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Regards,
Terry

U can search Analog or TI for chopper stabilization operational amplifiers. They are low noise.

But the real fun is in designing one such opamp and then measuring the results. I think former is quite possible. U can start to design a simple low noise opamp using Two -stage miller opamp topology for flicker noise.
