relationship between INL/DNL and no. of bits

in some literatures, authors will state that "we improved INL to 9.5b". What is the relationship between these three specifications of ADC?

Hi neoflash,
In principle, there is no relationship between DNL/INL on the one hand and the resolution on the other hand.
When we compare non-idealities or errors of an ADC with a number of bits, we mean that the error is as large as the quantization error of an ideal ADC with that given number of bits...
