QVCO test buffer match
Jan 16th, 2008, 10:57pm

I  designed a QVCO, the frequency is 4G,now I need a test buffer to evaluate it
Does the test buffer need to match 50Ω? I know the test buffer for LNA must match 50Ω?I think the QVCO test buffer need not,but I am not sure.
Does the buffer that does not match 50Ω affect the phase noise and other performances?

How do you want to measure it and WHAT do you want to measure ?

For amplitude performances (gain, swing, etc.) a matching to your measurement equipment is important,
for time measurements (frequency, PN,etc.) it's unimportant as long as you've got a sufficient output swing and no reflections ...

(That should answer your question.)

“no reflections” means match, but you say  match is unimportant, why?
