Phase noise table for a VCO in Agilent ADS
May 14th, 2008, 3:16am

Hi,

This is probably a question for a HP/Agilent ADS user forum, but I couldn't get help for it anywhere else.

In a phase noise simulation, I'm looking to add phase noise to a VCO (V_1Tone source) by means of a phase noise table (Frequency->Corresponding Phasenoise@Frequency). This is usually done using the DataAccessComponent, but I've not been able to get it to work. If there's anybody who's familiar with this, I would be thankful for their help !

Cheers !

I can't find any design issue in your post.
Your question is not design issue but simple usage of EDA tool.
Please post to "The Designer's Guide Community Forum ≫ Simulators ≫ RF Simulators".

I can not find your post in "Agilent EEsof Forums". Did you post to "Agilent EEsof Forums" ?
If you post there, I can answer there.
Agilent Home >Products & Services > Test & Measurement >
Agilent EEsof EDA > EEsof Knowledge Center > Discussion Forums
Agilent EEsof Forums > ADS > Analog Simulation

Why do you use "DataAccessComponent" ?
Do you understand use model of  "DataAccessComponent" ?

You can set phase noise data using list() function very simply.
See manual of ADS.
http://eesof.tm.agilent.com/docs/adsdoc2005A/ccsrc/index.html

You want to set phase noise via external file instead of directly setting ?
It might be possible, if you invoke makearray() and access_data() functions.
If you need more informations, post to "Agilent EEsof EDA > EEsof Knowledge Center > Discussion Forums".
There you can get many answers from Agilent's guys and ADS's expert users.
If no one answered, I will answer you there.

Thanks for your reply, pancho_hideboo.

I had tried it using the 'list' function, but I found using the dataaccesscomponent more flexible Smiley. I can't seem to find a reference for that document (from ADS) which explained how to perform phase noise analysis, employing the dataaccesscomponent. In anycase, I've found another work around !
