Hi all,

What are (state-of-the-art) noise-figures for GSM, UMTS and WLAN radios?
GSM=2dB, UMTS=3dB??

Thanks

Hi Berti,

State-of-the-art wireless transceivers these days are SoC and often its a sensitivity for the system which is quoted and not NF.
e.g. For GSM spec @ -102dBm, state-of-the-art is about -112dBm.

Anyway there were several excellent presentations of "start-of-art" transceivers at this year's ISSCC during the cellular transceivers sessions for GSM and WCDMA. As you suggest, GSM rx NF seems to be sub 2dB and WCDMA is sub 3dB.

cheers
aw
