PLL lock-in range and charge pump questions
Apr 20th, 2009, 8:28am

 Hi Guys
I designed a analog PLL which operate in 2GHz with a lock-in range of 100MHz without charge pump. I searched on literature and find out the previous research most of them use digital PLL which has a phase and freqeucny detector. Is there similar idea for analog PLL?
will charge pump increase lock-in range of analog PLL, is there any literatures? Any suggestions on how to improve the lock-in range of PLL?
 Thank you so much

Locking range is usually your VCO tuning range if your loop bandwidth is not too large.

This book should be helpful:
J. Rogers, C. Plett, and F. Dai, "Integrated Circuit Design for High-speed Frequency Synthesis".
