What is the best accuracy that a TCXO can achieve?
Jul 30th, 2009, 7:57pm

Hi,

I guess it depends heavily on the frequency stability over operating temperature range of crystals. But I don't know what's the extreme that the crystal industry can approach. Any literature, datasheet, website are appreciated.

The best SOA for a TCXO is going to be around 0.05 ppm over -40 Deg to 85 Deg to 0.1ppm. Most achieve a bit worse, e.g. 0.5 ppm. XTALS un-compensated are around 20 ppm to 100 ppm. XTAL temperature hysteresis is a killer. OCXO (oven) gets you to the ppb level, in part, because the xtal is not allowed to move, much.
