Post-layout simulation
Aug 21st, 2009, 2:05am

Hello,
I have finished the Calibre PEX and successfully extracted the netlist.
But I do not know how to use the new netlist to run the post layout simulation
I tried to google it but seems there is no up-to-data guide on Cadence 6.1
Anybody could give me a guide?
Thanks!

There should be the ability to output a "Calibre Extracted View" from Calibre PEX. This will create a netlistable view alongside your schematic and layout in the database, and then you can use the hierarchy editor to pick the Calibre Extracted View instead of your schematic - you then simulate the configured testbench.

This is much simpler than trying to include an extracted netlist, and having to get the pin orders to match up, and so on.

Regards,

Andrew.

Thanks for your reply.
After I generate the calibre view and I tried to insert it in simulation
there is a error message as:
"Cannot initiate calibre view"

Hi tideblue,

What do you mean by "insert it in simulation"?

I don't know the reason why you have such an error message. Did you setup a config view using hierarchy editor?

What I did by now is
1 in the Calibre setting I selectedCalibre-->outputs-->SVDB-->Generate Calibre connectivity interface data, start RVE after PEX, Generate cross reference data for RVE, then after Calibre I can generate a Calibre view with the default setting. In the mean time three files are also generated" *.pex.netlist, *.pxi, *.pex.netlist.pex
2 in the top level simulation setup,  I created a new "config" .And I set the one which is layouted to the "instance view-->calibre"
3 Then I choose "OPEN" in the hierarchy editor and start simulation.
What I see now is that the post simulation result is exactly the same as previous simulation
I doubt my layout is that good

Sounds reasonable. Probably best to contact Cadence (or maybe Mentor, since essentially it's their extracted view) customer support to walk through the process and check your data. It's hard to tell what is wrong without being able to see it...

Andrew.

tideblue,

Try to choose Outputs --> CALIBREVIEW in the Netlist panel.

Hi tideblue,
would you able to solve the problem that extracted and schematic simulations match exactly. I am having the same pproblem. Please help me out.
Thanks,
