hi all..
i want to know whats happening when metal n semiconductor come into  contact ...
can anyone explain exactly whats going on there...i  didnot get why the energy band diagrams bend at contact under thermal equilibrium...?

hi,
actually in thermal equilibrium current should be zero..so Fermi level should be flat. so keep your fermi level flat and complete remaining Energy Band diagram. otherwise you can say like you need electric field to stop carrier exchange at thermal equilibrium.

You can get this info in street man book

Thanks,
