plotting currents in cadence ams from ade - very buggy - plz help
Jul 30th, 2010, 8:52pm

My team is trying to verify our mixed signal ASIC with cadence ams using the ade.

We are seeing very flaky results saving and plotting currents.  Sometimes it works great, other times it does not work at all, even for the same testbench/simulation.

We have made sure we are saving the currents properly in all cases, but it just seems to randomly drop the currents sometimes.

Does anyone have any tips to make saving and plotting currents more consistent?

We are still using version 5 of cadence because we don't have any design kit support for OA libraries in IC6.  Our mmsim is a little older too.  I can get the exact numbers if needed.

Thanks!

Hi Dan,

Sometimes I come accross similar problems. The following is my suggestion.
  • Check your netlist and log file, make sure all the wanted nodes/currents are saved.
  • What tool do you use to post-process the waveform? AWD or wavescan?
  • You said that you are using ic 5.x. I assume you have not tried viva which is released with ic 6.x. Wavescan has more bugs. Please use viva instead of wavescan/AWD if that tool is available.

Best Regards
Yawei

Thanks for the input.  I typically use AWD.

I am not familiar with VIVA.
