voltage reference design - references and sources
May 05th, 2011, 12:16pm

Hello,
I am looking into voltage regulators, but so far am having difficulty finding good references to learn about them.  Are there some references, such as papers, textbooks, tutorials, etc, that discuss voltage regulators and transistor level designs?
Thanks.

Are you looking for references for bandgap and other references? Or for voltage regulators (like low drop-out regulators, charge pumps, etc.)

There is some stuff in the IEEE JSSC but a ;ot of it is older. Stuff that is "new" in voltage regulators, is all fairly old.

Dig thru the IEEE JSSC for stuff, but some of its gong to be 20-30 years back.

Books? Not sure whats out there.

Hi RobG and looseelectron - thanks very much for the replies.  I guess I'm just looking for more of an authoritative and "tutorial" type reference.  The JSSC stuff is sometimes just papers describing what they did, but not actually how it works and perhaps how they designed it.

Anyway, these two I thought were quite good:

The only book I can think of is  "Current Efficient, Low Voltage, Low Dropout Regulators" by Rincon-Mora. Not very advanced, but for starters it's okay I think. =)

Alexander,
Actually I was just looking at that today and found it to be a very useful reference!  Many thanks.

I also found this to be quite a good resource: https://dspace.ist.utl.pt/bitstream/2295/154218/1/thesis.pdf

From the same website there is another dissertation as well:

I cannot say anything about the quality, as I haven't read those. Anyhow, have fun reading! =)
