Simulated and calculated value discrepancies in simple parallel RLC circuit.
Mar 04th, 2012, 10:10pm

Hello all,
I tried to simulate parallel RLC circuit with values R= 550 Ohm, L = 712pH and C=821fF. All these components are ideal which are taken from anologlib in cadence. For the above given values, resonant frequency is calculated to be 41.3GHz (Formula : 1 over root (L *C)). But when I simulated and checked with s parameter analysis, resonant frequency came around 6.6GHz !! I attached schematic setup and as well as the result which is showing ZM. Why I am getting so much difference between calculated and simulated values?

Regards,
Vinay Rao.
