impact of SFDR

Hi,
I wonder what is the real impact of SFDR by itself?
e.g. two ADCs having the same SINAD, one has a better or wrose SFDR than the other, then how is that difference in SFDR reflected in the end?
thanks,
Kev

Hi,
In the context of a communications system, it affects your bit error rate.
regards,
Aaron

As SINAD determines the ENOB of the two converters the bit error rate will probably be the same for both.
If SFDR is different between the 2 converters it means that SINAD is dominated by non-linear distortion while the other converter is dominated by random noise. Based on this information you can determine how and what to improve in the circuit level in order to get better SINAD.
