Jitter mode vs sources mode
Apr 10th, 2015, 6:11pm

Hello All,

Could someone please compare/explain the difference between how Spectre computes phase noise in Jitter mode Vs. Sources mode.
In Ken's paper "Modeling Jitter in PLL-based Frequency Synthesizers" section 4.1.1, he says that jitter of ripple counter/dividers should be computed separately for each block; and TJ is RSS of jitter of individual blocks. However, using SpectreRF in jitter mode I'm getting correct results for a cascade of ripple dividers. Is the comment no longer applicable?

Thanks,
AS
