Fractional-N synth phase noise measurements
Jan 31st, 2005, 5:53am

Hi,

Does any one have an idea how to simulate the phase noise of a fractional-N synthesizer in spectre ?

I read somewhere that since its not periodic the simulator fails to converge.

Thanks,

It is not easy, but it is also not impossible. You can read about it in "Modeling jitter in PLL-based frequency synthesizers" in http://www.designers-guide.com/Analysis/.

Thanks,

But I was looking for a direct way so the real devices will be simulated.

Not to use a model for simulation.
