Hai:

I'm new to VCO design, can anyone guide me in the procedure to set up an initial condition for a typical negative gm, differential VCO with nMOS coupling transistor pair.

In my experiment, one oscillating point is set VDD, the other side VSS, LC VCO will start up in transient analysis. You can try it
